5 essential crystals to start with

Let's kick it off with the essentials, which is a great place to start even if you're not very spiritual. Do you know what crystals have in common with all purpose flour, eggs and other core baking ingredients?


In order to bake a cake, having some eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, butter, milk, sugar, and other ingredients certainly comes in handy.

...or, if you're like me, and have friends that are slightly crazy, mistaking a bottle of sand in their kitchen for ground pepper... who keeps a bottle of sand in a glass jar in their kitchen anyway?!

I swear I have the weirdest friends... but that's a story for another time. Depending on your taste and how you want your red velvet cake, carrot cake, or, in my case, sand cake to turn out, you'll have to add a little something extra.
