(For beginners) Creating a sacred space
“The Experience of Sacred Space makes possible the founding of the world: where the sacred Manifests itself in space, the real unveils itself, the world comes into existence.”
- Mircea Eliade
A sacred space is a nourishing bubble. A garden for your soul. Use your sacred space to uplift your spirit. To find harmony in your life. Whether you use it to meditate, do yoga, or just to get away from everything. It’s a comforting space, that doesn’t require dedicating an extra room.
Let it be the source of inner calm and ease. Let it help you achieve an altered state of mind and enjoy enhanced mood and intense relaxation. Close your eyes and feel the peace permeate your every cell, feeling every part of your body come alive.
Do you feel you could make use of a garden for your soul? If so, let me guide you through it in easy 4 steps. (It really doesn’t need a 10 page short novel that is full of twists.)
Step 1. What do you want out of your sacred space
Is it going to be a place for you to unwind? A place to manifest, meditate or just read? A space that’s dedicated for crystal rituals? If you don’t have anything specific in mind yet, that’s fine. You can come back to this step later to make it more suitable for your needs.
Step 2. Finding a place
You can either be practical about it, or not. Is there a certain place in your home where you feel unexplainably good? Or do you have a table or a desk somewhere in the corner that doesn’t get much use? Walk around and think about it for a minute. My best advice is to choose a place, where you don’t get distracted too much.
Step 3. Items you should have in your sacred space
The most enjoyable step. Designing your sacred space. What makes you feel good? What inspires you? Do you enjoy candle light when reading or meditating? Decorate it with candles. Do you find crystals inspiring? Decorate it with crystals. A certain piece of jewelry or a talisman takes you back into a certain moment? Tarot cards. Sacred pictures. Add them all. Do you have a favorite house plant? Make it an exciting zen-space for you.
Step 4. Bless it
Do you have a favorite mantra? A ritual you’re already doing? This is the part that should come from your heart. Do what feels right for you and bless your sacred space.
Creating your own sacred space isn’t as complicated as it might seem, and it looks like a peaceful zen-space if you don’t really find a use for it at first. (It doesn’t need to be overly-complicated either, take a look at the picture above.)
Here’s a question I get asked the most. “What if other people sit in my sacred space?”
Your sacred space comes to life with you in it. Easiest way to put it - if you’ve got meaningful jewelry that takes you back to a certain memory - other people looking at it, or wearing it have no emotional connection to it.
These crystals found a way into my sacred space:
Clear Quartz. It channels universal energy by means of absorbing, storing, amplifying, balancing, focusing, and transmitting. Quartz also enhances thoughts, as they are a form of energy. Because it directs and amplifies energy, it is extremely beneficial for manifesting, healing, meditation, protection, and channeling purposes.
Turquoise. Turquoise is a most efficient healer, providing solace for the spirit and well-being for the body. It benefits the overall mood and emotion by balancing and inducing a sense of serenity and peace. Holding or wearing Turquoise helps restore depleted vitality and lifts sagging spirits. It relieves stress and brings focus back to the center heart. Turquoise strengthens the meridians of the body and the subtle energy fields, enhancing communication between the physical and spiritual worlds.
Citrine. Often times, we are our own worse enemy. We are the ones imposing negative energy on ourselves with self-doubt, lack of confidence, and limiting beliefs about our capabilities. Have Citrine in your space will bring light when you are surrounded by darkness. Citrine attracts love, light, and positivity. When we embrace such mindset, the Universe will conspire to bring into reality that which we desire. Also called the Merchant's Stone as it attracts prosperity.
