February’s birthstone comes handy every day

February’s birthstone is Amethyst. Let’s start with some fun trivia. Did you know Amethyst is Ontario’s official mineral? And if you feel like releasing your inner adventurer that includes wearing a hat like Indiana Jones. Jackson’s Crossroads Amethyst Mine in Georgia (premier Amethyst locality in the U.S.) reopened in 2019 to the public.

A little history behind this birthstone: St. Valentine was known for wearing an Amethyst stone at all times. Also, during the Middle Ages, if an amethyst was presented by a lady to her knight, or a bride to her husband in the shape of a heart set in silver, it was said to confer the greatest possible earthly happiness on the pair, and they would be blessed with good fortune for the remainder of their lives. For these two reasons, Amethyst became known as the birthstone for February, the month of Love!

Amethyst is the all purpose gemstone. (You’ve probably caught up with it, as we mention it quite often. It’s one of the most popular choices for your bedroom, for meditation, for spirituality, to relieve anxiety and so on. From providing you with inner peace to helping you analyze difficult situations, the list of benefits of Amethyst is on-going. That also makes it one of the most popular gemstones in our store.

Are you taking your bedroom for granted? The key to creating a relaxing retreat isn’t only achieved by using the latest gadgets and decorations, or by constantly running around with a dust cloth made out of an old shirt. Of course they help, but… only so much.

So you don’t have to wake up with the burden of racing thoughts in the morning, Amethyst creates a calm atmosphere, and purifies your mind while you sleep. It is the stone of dreamers. Stimulating the Third Eye Chakra, it connects you with spiritual realms, increases spirituality and enhances intuition and psychic powers of all kinds. Amethyst is also excellent for meditation and lucid dreaming. It is used to open one's channels to telepathy, past life regression, clairaudience, clairvoyance, and communication with angels.

The Ajna Chakra or Third Eye Chakra influences your power of intuition and imagination. That’s why Amethyst is possibly one of the most useful crystals for meditation; it guides the mind toward deeper understanding.

See what I mean by the all purpose stone?

It’s also the office stress reliever. It protects you from colleagues who are constantly creating drama that emotionally drains you. This crystal is also associated with the Crown Chakra. It opens you up for higher states of consciousness - demonstrate greater intelligence. Which means coming home from work less stressed and less grumpy.

You ever have days where existing feels like you’re constantly forced to smile in a picture you don’t want to be in? Sometimes you can’t help but get dragged onto the seemingly never stopping high-speed train, and there’s only so much you can do to get off. Amethyst is a great stone to relieve anxiety by detoxifying the emotional body. It’s the emotional body that’s making you run, not your physical body. Holding Amethyst can help get rid of mental blocks and related mental issues, which equals staying and not giving up if you know you’ll be mad at yourself later on.

Let’s end this on a loving note. You can’t help but notice the power of love in its presence. It’s one of the few gemstones that makes you opened and embrace the love that surrounds you.

Makes you wonder why you’d ever need any other gemstones, right? Whether you were born in February or not, Amethyst is an exciting addition to your gemstone collection.

Love,

~Christina
